Read below for the step by step process, pre and post care, longevity, FAQ's and color inspiration.

  • Consultation & Mapping

We will begin by going over your goal and expectations for your lip blush. We will discuss things such as why you want lip blush, what you don't like about your lips currently, your lifestyle and goal color.

We will then map out your lips. With lip blush we can only extend past your lip border slightly to correct unevenness. We do not recommend overlining the entirety of lips to make them appear larger, even if that is the way you usually wear your makeup.

  • Numbing & Color Selection

After mapping your lips a topical numbing cream will be applied to your lips. This lidocaine cream will take the edge off but will not completely numb your skin.

While your numbing cream is settling in, we will mix up your custom color. If desired, we will swatch the color on your skin to confirm that it is suitable to your skin tone.

Be sure to view our lip blush color inspiration pictures below.

  • Lip blushing

We will use a machine and fine needle to apply your lip blush using a combination of both a lining and shading technique.

Additional anesthetic will be applied throughout the service to keep you comfortable.

Expect your total appointment to be around 2-2.5 hours.

Once finished we will discuss after care and when to come in for your touchup! Read below for pre and post care instructions.

  • Pre-Care Instructions:

    -Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior

-Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin and any other blood-thinning mediations for 24 hours (If you are on prescribed blood-thinners please discuss this with your doctor)

    -Avoid caffeine morning-of

-Exfoliate and moisturize your lips (dry or chapped lips do not take pigment well)

-If you are prone to cold sore we recommend pre-treating with Valtrex (consult with your doctor) Lip blush can cause an outbreak as it's an injury to the lips.

-If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or are under 18 years old you cannot have this service done.

  • After Care

-Cleanse and moisturize with the after care products provided to you.

-Avoid spicy or heavily-salted food for 48 hours (May irritate your lips)

-Avoid kissing or other "high-friction" activities for 48 hours.

-Avoid heavy workouts (sweating) for 1 week. The salt in your sweat will pull pigment out of your lips.

    -Avoid saunas/hot tubs/pools for 1 week.

-Avoid tanning (Bed or natural) during the healing process. Once healed please wear SPF lip products to protect your lip blush.

-If cold sores occur, treat them as you normally would.

  • Touchups

We recommend a second session 6-12 weeks after your inital appointment. Although, if your lips look perfect after the first session feel free to skip it!

If you have received color correction lip blush (for melanin-rich lips) 2-3+ sessions are usually needed.

Color boosts should be done whenever your lips appear too light and most of the pigment has faded (About 2 years, depending on how quickly your skin regenerates).

No matter how long it's been since your last lip blush service (With us) you'll only need to pay for the color boost service, not the full treatment price.

FAQ's

Frequently asked questions:

Gentle Spirit Beauty in Puyallup, WA. specializes in natural-looking lip blush!

Are you considering getting a lip blush procedure but have some burning questions? Look no further! Here are some frequently asked questions about lip blush to help you make an informed decision.

What is Lip Blush?

Lip blush is a permanent makeup procedure that enhances the natural color and shape of your lips. It involves depositing pigment into the lips to create a soft, natural-looking tint. This procedure can give your lips a more defined shape and pop of color!

How Long Does Lip Blush Last?

On average, lip blush typically lasts 2-3 years between touchups, depending on factors such as your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

Is Lip Blush Painful?

Most clients report minimal discomfort during the lip blush procedure. Topical numbing cream is applied to the lips before & during the treatment to help minimize any pain. The sensation can vary from person to person, but it is generally well-tolerated. Some clients even fall asleep!

How do I choose a color?

When choosing a color for lip blush you have a couple of options. 1. Bring in your favorite lip product and we can color match it. 2. Bring in inspiration pictures of your desired color. These can be from our portfolio or other pictures from social media or the internet. 3. Come in with an idea of the tone you want (Such as peachy, pink, mauve, berry, red, etc.) and we can show you color swatches and custom blend your perfect color.

Can you make my lips look bigger with lip blush?

Your artist will outline your lips all the way to the very edge of your lip line. This may make your lips look bigger since most lips are very pale at the border. We cannot overline your lips past your lip line or you will be left with two different colors once healed, as the skin on your lips vs. the skin around your lips are very different textures.

What is the Recovery Process Like?

After getting lip blush, you may experience some swelling, tenderness, and dryness in the treated area. It is essential to follow the aftercare instructions provided by your artist, such as avoiding certain foods and activities that may affect the healing process. The full healing time typically takes about 4-6 weeks.

Can I Still Wear Lipstick After Lip Blush?

Yes, you can still wear lipstick after getting lip blush. In fact, lip blush can serve as a great base for your favorite lip products. Just make sure to wait until your lips are fully healed before applying anything except the healing products given to you by your artist.

Now that you have a better understanding of lip blush, you can confidently decide if this procedure is right for you.
